HAIR LOSS
Hair loss (alopecia) can affect the hair on any part of the body; however, most are concerned with the hair on their head. The causes are multifactorial: hereditary, hormonal changes, medical conditions/medications and the natural process of ageing.

Androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness) is the most common form of hair loss. It is characterised by progressive thinning of hair, following a distinct pattern on the scalp.

Men typically experience a receding hairline combined with thinning at the crown, which can lead to complete baldness. In contrast, women usually observe a diffuse thinning across the scalp, with the frontal hairline often remaining intact but thinned.

The development of androgenetic alopecia results from a complex interplay of genetic predisposition, hormonal factors, age, and recently identified inflammatory processes.

Other common causes of hair loss include telogen effluvium, alopecia areata and scarring alopecia. (Ame)
How to prevent hair loss:
-
Limit the use of heat to style hair e.g straighteners. Use the lowest setting on your blow dryer, air dry where possible. Use a heat protectant when styling.
-
Avoid tight hair styles.
-
Maintain a balanced healthy diet with enough calories, protein and iron.
-
Take the correct supplements for maintaining healthy hair including Omega -3 fatty acids, Omega -6 fatty acids and antioxidants.
-
Protect hair from sunlight and other sources of UV light.
-
Cessation of smoking and reduction of alcohol consumption.
-
Non-invasive hair loss treatments e.g. Low Level Laser Therapy, Microneedling
-
Regenerative medicine e.g. Exosomes, Stem cells, Polynucleotides

Treatments for hair thinning/mild-moderate hair loss:

CALECIM PROFESSIONAL

Calecim Advanced Hair System serum contains patented active ingredient PTT-6. Delivering the latest in cellular regenerating technology with profuse benefits for hair and skin
PTT-6 is a proprietary mix of growth factors, exosomes and proteins derived from cultured umbilical cord cells, ethically sourced.
Calecim professional has been shown to stimulate hair growth, improve hair thickness whilst decreasing folliclular inflammation and oxidative stress.
How is it applied?
The advanced serum is micro-needled into the scalp. Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure using a device with fine needles creating micro punctures to the scalp. And in doing so, promotes a wound healing response.

Exosomes are nano sized fluid filled sacs with a lipid membrane. They contain growth factors and other bioactive molecules that provide instruction to strengthen, support and regulate the hair growth cycle.
Possible mechanisms through which Exosomes can promote hair growth include:
-
Stimulation of new blood vessels providing nutrients to the hair follicles
-
Anti-inflammatory effects
-
Immune modulation response
-
Activate stem cells in hair follicle

Polynucleotides are natural, highly purified DNA fragments in the form of a regenerative injectable treatment. This treatment can improve both scalp quality and hair condition.
When injected into the scalp, Polynucleotides can regenerate the hair follicles promoting and accelerating hair growth.

The unparalleled TriWave MD LED therapy can aid the promotion of hair growth by stimulating the hair follicles to produce thicker stronger hair.

EVRL LASER
The EVRL by Erchonia is a safe and non-invasive medical grade Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT). LLLT has a bio stimulatory healing effect by increasing cellular activity in the hair follicles, promoting repair and regeneration, reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow.
