Exosomes are minuscule extracellular vesicles that are naturally generated and can be derived from plants, animals and fish. They are enclosed within a lipid membrane; these nano sized sacs play a pivotal role in facilitating intercellular communication. Acting as messengers, they play a crucial role in cell-to-cell communication by carrying various molecules, including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. Exosomes contain a diverse range of bioactive substances, such as growth factors, cytokines, and other signalling molecules. These substances can influence cellular processes and have the potential to promote tissue regeneration, immune modulation, and other therapeutic effects. Types of Exosomes: Plant-based exosomes: Plant Derived Exosome-like Nanoparticles (PDENs) are extracted from organic plant stem cells. In simple terms, PDENs are envelopes that facilitate cell-to-cell communication. Over the past decade, research has unveiled that plant stem cells produce human cytokine-like factors that enable the use of plant secretory factors for human cell signalling.
